Wassa! Wassa! Africa Drum & Dance, presented by Lua Shayenne, is a showcase presentation that will feature an excerpt of her new commissioned piece set to premiere in 2019, KIRA, the path | KIRA, La voie alongside guests Amadou Kienou, Mabinty Sylla, Black Stars, Pulga Muchochoma and Kassoum Diamoutene.
The showcase will be followed by an Atsia Circle where everyone is invited to dance in a drum circle.
Choreographed by Fara Tolno, KIRA, The Path | KIRA, La voie reminds humanity not to loose our connection to Mother Earth and to one another regardless of beliefs, culture and gender. The counsels of our ancestors - the guardians of our moral code and spiritual guides to our path - echo into the distance: the invisible cord that links us to them and mother Earth is wasting away.
The creation of KIRA, the path | KIRA, La voie is supported by the Toronto Arts Council and the Ontario Arts Council.
